Bill Mittag Bio

Bill Mittag’s fascination with the American West inspires his peaceful historical scenes before the Great Western Migration. “I try to convey the feeling of being there in each of my oil paintings of the Northern and Southern Plains tribes.” His studio contains many books on various tribes and old photos for research information. He also paints western and landscapes of the western states.

 

Bill is a graduate of New Mexico State University and graduate studies (UCLA). He is a lifetime Artist Member of the Mountain Oyster Club.

 

His art has been featured in Southwest Art and American Artist magazines. His PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) card is #7244 (1962).

 

Bill has exhibited in invitational shows such as Gilcrease Museum, C.M. Russell Museum, Albuquerque Museum, Nita Stewart Haley Library, Museum of Western Art, Mountain Oyster Club, Peppertree Art Show, and Settlers West (miniature).

 

Bill’s art is represented by galleries in AZ, TX, CO, WY, ID, IL and MT.
