Dustin Payne Gallery
Dustin Payne Bio
Dustin Payne at age 26 is already 16 years into his sculpting career. He has produced
many limited edition bronze sculptures and is now working on several new ones in
clay. His bronzes are available in four top-notch western galleries; Mountain Trails
Gallery in Jackson and Cody, Wyoming; Park City, Utah; and Sedona, Arizona. Dustin
currently lives in Cody, Wyoming where he is constantly working with and coming
up with new ideas for his bronzes. The Buffalo Bill Historical Museum is one of
his favorite places to find inspiration and gain knowledge of the West and Western
Art.
Dustin represents the third generation of professional western sculptors in his
family. His father, Vic Payne, and grandfather, Ken Payne, are distinguished sculptors
familiar to art lovers and collectors of western Americana.
Dustin can often be found sculpting at one of the galleries that represents his
work, so his customers can see first hand the creative process behind what he does.
Whether the sculptor is present or not, people are drawn equally to the genuineness
of feeling-for-the subject and to the artistry of design and composition that are
always apparent first in these clay models and in the finished bronzes bearing the
Payne signature.
When not in the galleries, you can find Dustin sculpting along-side his father,
Vic, who has recently started sculpting a number of monumental size bronzes, some
of which will be placed at the new Cabela's stores around the country. They spend
a lot of time in their artist's studio in Cody, Wyoming. Vic and Dustin are often
discussing new ideas for sculptures and anything else that might arise between a
young twenty-first century cowboy sculptor and his dad, who is also role model,
mentor, and best friend. Vic and Dustin's bronzes tell stories about pioneers, ranchers,
explorers, and the cowboy way of life. Dustin enjoys studying Native American and
cowboy history and his pieces will reflect the stories he learns about. He is also
an avid Team Roper. When not sculpting, Dustin enjoys training and competing in
rodeo competitions.
Dustin was featured in the May 2002 Southwest Art Magazine and again in Southwest
Art's annual "Top 21 under 31" in September of 2002. With Dustin's early start in
his career, he has already advanced incredibly as a western sculptor.
