Jay Moore Bio
Jay Moore has been an artist all of his life. In 9th grade his teachers recognized
his potential and enrolled him in the "Gifted and Talented" program which allowed
four of his six classes to be art. He received art awards in high school and when
he chose the Art Institute of Colorado to further his studies, he received a Merit
Scholarship and graduated at the top of his class.
After working briefly as a graphic designer, he thought all that he wanted was to
be an illustrator for books and magazines. After a decade of living that dream,
he was drawn to the fine arts. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, landscape
painting was an obvious choice. He began painting landscapes fulltime in 1994. Since
that time he has completed over 100 commissions and has had 14 One Man Shows.
Jay's paintings are widely collected by prominent individuals from Hollywood to
Washington D.C. Recently the Denver Art Museum purchased a large Colorado landscape,
“Hazard Creek, Backlit” for their permanent collection. His home and studio are
in a peaceful country setting about an hours drive from Denver.
